Bordeaux Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Also in Côtes de Bourg - right next to Roc de Cambes but falls just outside the appellation. Younger vines. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

The 2022 Domaine de Cambes offers tons of saline, infused energy and tension. Crushed rocks, menthol, white flowers and chalk all run through this nervy, nuanced Bordeaux. Time in the glass brings out lovely inner sweetness and perfume to play off the wine’s mid-weight sense of structure. All the 2022 needs is time. 91-93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

The 2022 Domaine des Cambes, from the Mitjavile family, has a very pure bouquet with blackcurrant, wild strawberry and cherry scents, again, very Burgundian in style. The palate is medium-bodied with an almost viscous entry, smooth and sensual, with white pepper and sage hints toward the finish. 90-92 Neal Martin, Vinous.

Perfumed and floral, still concentrated and full ripe black fruits too. Smells heady and powerful. Supple and clean, this has a juicy blackcurrant core with well-textured, powdery, chewy tannins that give liquorice, sweet cedar and caramel toast flavours. Round with nice energy and purity. Intense and concentrated, really aromatic but still with mouthwatering acidity and some juicy herbal and liquorice-edged raspberry flavours.
