2017, Domaine Thierry Voilot-Guillemard, BEAUNE, 1er Cru, 'Clos des Mouches', Rouge
Cool aromas of various red berries, lavender and earth hints. The energetic and well-delineated medium-bodied flavours possess a lovely texture that carries over to the dusty, linear and nicely persistent finish. This should benefit from a few years of bottle age in order to better flesh out. 90 Burghound.
The 2017 Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge offers smudged brambly red fruit on the nose, which is quite open already; rose petals become more and more noticeable with aeration. The lively palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, citrus fruit, orange peel and crushed strawberry towards the finish. I like the persistence on display here. This is a well-crafted, quite delicious Clos des Mouches. 92 Neal Martin, Vinous.
