Peter Maude Fine Wines
2021, Maison Jean-Claude Boisset, CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY, 1er Cru, 'Les Charmes'
The terroirs of Chambolle-Musigny are rather homogenous and enjoy eastern exposure. The delicate silkiness of its wines stems directly from the soil type. 51 year old vines.
The colour is garnet red. The nose is very expressive and charming with intense aromas of small black fruits and peppery notes. On the palate, this wine is a bit austere in its youth but has a more square substance and a spicy finish. Good ageing potential! Domaine notes.
Bottled. Especially pale rim. Very floral and hedonistic. Sweet start and surely just what burgundy lovers currently seek. Really rather gorgeous fruit and precision with just a little dry finish so probably worth waiting a while. Very long. 17.5 Jancis Robinson.
