Peter Maude Fine Wines
2022, Domaine Bruno Clair, GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, Village
Mid purple. Graceful, gentle red fruit on the nose. Starts attractively on the palate with strawberry and some cherry, then suddenly a much deeper burst of fruit, especially cherry, before refined tannins to finish. **** 90-92 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
There is a highly attractive freshness to the softly spicy if distinctly earthy nose that features mostly notes of red currant and forest floor. There is good underlying tension to the well-detailed medium weight flavours that are shaped by firm and slightly chewy tannins that lend a certain rusticity to the finale. This succulent but punchy effort is very Gevrey in style. 88-91 Burghound.
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village bursts with aromas of red berries, cherries and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, pure and charming palate with good depth and density. 89-91 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
