2022, Maison Benjamin Leroux, GRIOTTES-CHAMBERTIN, Grand Cru, Magnum (1500ml)

The 2022 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with pure wild strawberry, Morello, crushed stone and touches of white flowers. The medium-bodied palate has a smooth texture. It is lightly spiced and very cohesive, with a gentle grip towards the finish and a bit of graphite on the aftertaste. Very fine. 94-96 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).

The last year of this wine, 1 x 456 litre in one year old barrel, unracked. Crimson purple. Slightly higher toned in bouquet. Then brilliant on the palate with huge depth, a concentrated background which places this over and above the Charmes. Very intense through the middle, still some tannins to refine, but excellent potential. **** 94-97 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2023).
