Castilla y León, 100% Tempranillo, 21 months barrel.
This wine had the edge for me on the 2017 - due in part to the extra ageing softening the primary fruit. Sweet cocoa again but with the added character of dried fruits - figs, prunes and complex floral elements opening on the nose. Less primary and better flavour integration - rounded, deeper and harmonious. Fine tannins and texture with cleansing acidity to freshen it up. Still a little taut on the finish which (on the second day) smoothed out very nicely! ****1/2 JK 8/06/22.
