Domaine Bruno Clair
Marsannay, Côtes-de-Nuîts, Bourgogne, France
Traditional and well-crafted wines of excellence with incredible longevity is the signature here at Bruno Clair.
Bruno Clair and his wine-maker Phillipe Brun now run the domaine with Bruno’s sons Edouard and Arthur. This being one of the largest Domaines in Burgundy as it covers 23 hectares and includes vineyards that extend from Marsannay to Savigny. It was founded in 1979 but in 1985the vineyards of his parents and five siblings were added to the mix (Clos-de-Beze, Cazetiers, Clos-St-Jacques, Vosne-Romanée, Clos-du-Fonteny and Chambolle-Musigny) and the company of Domaine Bruno Clair came into being. In 1993 he added vineyards in Corton-Charlemagne, Pernard- Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton and three years later Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle to make up the 23 hectares. The highly knowledgeable Bruno Clair farms the Estate organically. Bruno also dislikes leaf plucking and speaks of the vines being able to breathe - all the grapes are hand-picked. The berries are mostly de-stemmed to 40% whole clusters, with indigenous yeast fermentation and 20-50% new oak.
