Poderi Aldo Conterno
Piedmont, Tuscany, Italy.
“The Burgundy of Italy.”
We offer you the small and fine Piedmont wines from the north and more specifically Barolo, with its rolling terrain and the native Nebbiolo and graceful Barbera grapes.
Aldo Conterno famously made extremely fine yet long-lived wines. Today the winery is managed by Aldo's three sons: Franco, Stefano and Giacomo.During the 1990s, there were just a handful of estates operating in Monforte d'Alba. “Then new estates were coming up like mushrooms and thiscaused us to reflect,” says Giacomo. “During that time, we made a firm decision not to make more than 80,000 bottles per year, even though our potential production could reach 500,000.” Selection and low yields are the most appropriate way to honour his father's legacy and of course to maintain an excellent standard of wine.
