----------------------
The winemaking region of Southern Rhône produces a diverse range of wines: from full-bodied, complex and delicious reds, to rosés and whites. Southern Rhône wines are (generally speaking) more fruit-forward and approachable, with a focus on balance and drinkability. Part of one of the world’s oldest wine regions, the southern reaches of the Rhône Valley are primarily known for its red blends of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. White wines are also produced here, including blends of Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier – which are typically aromatic, food-friendly and versatile.

As opposed to its northern counterpart, the Southern Rhône is flatter and somewhat less challenging, with a range of soil types and microclimates that allow for huge diversity among wine styles.
Some of the most famous appellations in the Southern Rhône include heavy hitters such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Côtes du Rhône Villages.
