Click here to read more.Quinta do Vesúvio is situated far upriver in the Douro Superior, 120 kilometres from Portugal’s Atlantic coast. Its inland position results in extremes of temperature and an annual average rainfall of only 400mm. With huge variations in altitude, only a third of Vesúvio is planted with vines, with the rest conserved in its natural, wild state.

Vesúvio’s remarkable vintage Ports and Douro D.O.C red wines are crafted by the Symingtons, the leading family of winemakers in the Douro Valley. Their nineteenth century winery is one of the Valley’s largest and one of the last places to still crush grapes gently by foot, according to a time-honoured tradition.
