2022, Château La Louvière Rouge, PESSAC-LÉOGNAN Grand Vin de Bordeaux
$55.20 inc. GST
Bordeaux Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Clear ripeness to the plum colour, this is enjoyable, not quite as much depth as some but that actually fills a gap in this vintage, where there is a lack of unfussy, well balanced, good quality wines that won't need a pick axe to get through the tannins. Measured extraction here, raspberry fruits, raspberry leaf, tobacco, white pepper spice, sticky tannins but overall a feeling that they are not pushing too hard and rather sticking closely to the estate signature. Jacques Lurton heads up this fast-improving estate. 92 Jane Anson.
93-94 James Suckling.
Revealing aromas of violet, sweet cherries, plums, menthol and dark berries, the 2022 La Louvière is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming with both a tense and fresh finish. Jacques Lurton has done an excellent job on this property. It's a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. 90-92 Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate.
