An even purple, not the deepest in the cellar. This is youthful, more backward than the others. A mix of red and black fruit with some useful points of acidity, a crunchier style of wine, still with the hallmark François Frères oak. More structure here than the preceding wines in the range. Another barrel had an extra layer of velvet, confirming the fourth star. **** 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.

The 2023 Beaune Les Grèves 1er Cru presents red berry and sous-bois on the nose, with plenty of freshness and vitality. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more depth and sinew than the Clos de Roi, yet the tannins are supple and fine with a pure finish. Recommended. 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous.

Very juicy indeed and a great price. Well done! Les Grèves grainy character, plus a great whack of fruit. Very good value. 17/20 Jancis Robinson.

A more direct aromatic - beautifully perfumed. In the mouth, direct, silken and fluid - just an extra density in the middle of the palate. Melting beautifully with flavour into the finish - then broadening over the palate - a small step up, even from the great Clos du Roi - bravo! Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.
