2023, Maison Benjamin Leroux, BLAGNY, 1er Cru, 'La Pièce sous le Bois'

This is an experimental version. The fruit was mostly destemmed, pressed a little by hand to get the juices running, then left in wine globe for 10 months with the skins, before being racked in July and bottled. Fresh purple in colour, with lively dark red fruits on the palate and a sensual texture. Not at all classic but rather lovely. Drink from 2026-2032. The 2023 Blagny la Piece Sous Le Bois 1er Cru has a finely delineated, pure, floral-tinged bouquet with iris and violet scents blossoming in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture, filigree tannins and a long black cherry and blueberry finish that has real length. Superb. 92-94 Neal Martin.
