2020, Annonce de Belair Monange, SAINT-ÉMILION
Bordeaux Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Franc.
Supple and generous, dark and brooding with perfume and charm. The flavours go vertically, giving depth on the mid-palate, but remaining defined and detailed. I love the very subtle sweetness, a sweet strawberry jam element to the mid-palate that gives joy and life, while quite serious savoury elements expand around the mouth - clove, cinnamon, aniseed, baking spices, cedar and dark chocolate. A serious wine, certainly with ageing potential. Well worked, long and ripe with lovely mineral touches. Needs some more time to come around but this is a brilliant second wine - one to get hold of! 94/100 Georgina Hindle, Decanter.
The 2020 Annonce de Bélair-Monange is a rich, heady wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, licorice, espresso, menthol and dried rose petals all race out of the glass. This exuberant second wine will be hard to resist young, but it also has the depth to age. I must say, the flamboyant style is hugely appealing. 93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
The 2020 Annonce from Belair Monange is rich, fleshy and generous, exhibiting aromas of ripe berries, plums, spices and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate framed by powdery tannins. 90 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
