Peter Maude Fine Wines
2020, Domaine de Villaine, RULLY, 1er Cru, 'Cloux' Blanc, EN CONVERSION BIO
Located in the heart of the Rully 1ers Crus hillsides, our "Cloux" white develops on the nose a beautiful aromatic palate, which despite its youth, ranges from citrus fruits to notes of spring flowers. We have the feeling when smelling the wine of a somewhat light, elegant, and harmonious complexity.
The palate is itself, elegant and thirst-quenching from the presence of a bitterness coming here too from the skin of the grapes, giving a very saline texture to the wines and a pronounced finish. The roundness of the fruit and tenderness of the finish dress this wine which seems to have been designed to stand the test of time. To drink now for an elegant expression of its fruit or wait ten to twenty years to discover the texture and the quality of its terroir. Pierre de Benoist.
A different style of aromatic - slightly savoury, perhaps faintly reductive nose. Supple, generous but also detailed over the palate and as you move through the middle and finishing flavours ever more precision with an attractive purity to mineral-laced flavour. I don't today love the nose but I do love the finish. Give this plenty of air, because the last drops in the glass are very attractive.
