2022, Maison Benjamin Leroux, CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET, 'Tete du Clos'
The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Tête du Clos 1er Cru has a tightly wound, quite minerally bouquet that leans slightly towards Puligny in style. The palate is fresh and saline on the entry, with hints of orange zest and peach skin and an elegant finish. Recommended. 90-92 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).
Two barrels made. The wood shows a little more, but it goes well with the additional flesh to be found in a Téte du Clos. The bouquet suggests complete harmony which the palate delivers, a marvellous expression of the best of mid slope Chassagne with a very long finish, and just the right acidity. ***** 94-96 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2023).
