2023, Maison Benjamin Leroux, CLOS SAINT DENIS, Grand Cru

Medium deep ruby purple. The nose could be fresher, a temporary issue, but the wine is really stylish on the palate with layers of raspberry and ripe cherry, all in a stylish framework, beautifully balanced to finish. Racked to wine globe for a longer elevage. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Oct 2024. **** 94-96 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
The 2023 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has been transferred into WineGlobe for its second year of maturation (Leroux finds it brings nice definition). The 2023 indeed has a well-defined bouquet with crisp acidity. It is fresh and vibrant with more charm than the preceding Chambertin. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannins. Again, it's just a little stemmy on the finish. I will be prudent with my score for now. 91-93 Neal Martin.
