2020, Domaine Ponsot, CORTON 'Bressandes' Grand Cru
Heady deep purple. There is a little reduction which is currently slightly interfering with the purity of the fruit. Plums in the fruit profile. Late malolactic here may explain the backwardness. Slightly firm finish as a result but here I think the dark fruit does fill out the palate rather more. *** 91-93 Jasper Morris MW.
This is also reserved and aromatically quite similar to the Bourdon save for the addition of a hint of herbal tea plus more obvious earth character that extends to the succulent and seductive yet concentrated and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in a youthfully austere and even firmer finale where a touch of bitter pit fruit slowly emerges. Patience strong suggested as this is clearly built-to-age. 92-94 Burghound.
