2022, Domaine Henri Magnien, GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, Village
A more deeply pitched nose is comprised by notes of plum, wild dark currant, forest floor and a hint of smoked meat. The succulent, delicious and vibrant medium-bodied flavours possess better density and more power as well if a bit less minerality on the lingering and firmer finish that is shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins. 88-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound (2024).
A clean fresh pale purple. Pleasing, stylish raspberry and fresh strawberry fruit, medium bodied, not too concentrated, with a slight harshness at the back. Tightly wound for the moment. *** 88-90 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (2023).
The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a refined bouquet: light cranberry, wild strawberry and briar aromas unfold in the glass. Pretty. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and a silver bead of acidity. It’s quite pure, with a dash of spice perking up the finish. Enjoy over the next 5 to 8 years. 89-91 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).
