Peter Maude Fine Wines
2021, Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron, NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES, 'Les Fleurières'
This attractive wine is a bit closed initially on the nose and then opens with a lovely, ripe raspberry and plum fruit and notes of earth and spice on the palate. The texture is elegant, with firm tannins, moderate extract, and impressive length, especially at this level. The wine is made from a 1.23-hectare parcel below premier cru Les Pruliers. The organically-farmed grapes are partially destemmed before careful fermentation and ageing in cask (20% new). 92 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.
In bottle. A find mid crimson purple. The nose needs a little more time to come out but it is pure and fine. Dark raspberry and plum fruit, more tannins, but the fruit returns behind with very good length. **** 91 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
