The Rugiens was made with at least 50% whole bunches. A gorgeous opulent purple with a fragrance owing much to the whole bunches. This is noble fruit. Absolutely mouth-filling with a freshness to the fruit that makes one salivate. Multiple layers, a very fine example. Drink from 2033-2040. Tasted Oct 2024. ***** (5 stars) 93-96 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
The 2023 Pommard Les Rugiens-Hauts 1er Cru, which contains 50% whole bunch, has a nicely detailed, very pure bouquet that unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, but the stems are more assimilated here compared to the Volnay Caillerets. It finishes with fine length. 91-93 Neal Martin.
