2018, Domaine Chandon de Briailles, SAVIGNY-LÈS-BEAUNE, 1er Cru, 'Les Lavières'
The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières comes from south-facing mid-slope vines on mainly limestone soils. It has a very attractive bouquet of raspberry and wild strawberry aromas, quite plump and generous, yet well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins and precise red berry fruit laden with minerals, leading to a slightly reserved but very persistent finish. 90-92 Neal Martin, Vinous.
There is both good energy and freshness to the detailed, mineral-infused and more refined flavours that exhibit fine length on the youthfully austere finale. This possesses fine ageing potential and is a wine that will need at least some patience. OUTSTANDING. 91 Allen Meadows, Burghound.
