2023, Domaine Montrose, Rosé 1701, LANGUEDOC

$42

An exceptional artisanal cuvée. It’s made from a rare blend of Grenache from volcanic terroir and Roussanne planted in the middle of the Mediterranean garrigue.

"Pale apricot, very fresh and pretty nose - floral. Honeysuckle, gardenia and roses. Very fine mid palate with a lovely cherry gum-drop character. Light texture, but good complexity for Rosé - very satisfying and juicy. Not the usual crisp finish - this fans out nicely and lingers in the mouth. Superb."

Creamy, smooth, blood orange and white strawberries. A touch of vanilla. Cherry blossom and satsuma. Orange zest. A light press of savoury mid-palate weight. More serious than their other rosés but fresh and vibrant with a distinctly provençal profile. You could, of course, drink this now. But I think it could benefit from another six to 12 months in bottle.
