2021, Domaine Frédéric Esmonin, GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN, 1er Cru, 'Estournelles St. Jacques'

This is aromatically quite similar to the Lavaut St. Jacques with perhaps just a bit less earth and sauvage nuances. The finer but not denser middleweight flavours also flash good minerality and detail on the mildly tangy but lingering bitter pit fruit-inflected finish where a touch of warmth slowly emerges. As is usually the case, this is a wine of finesse. 88 Burghound (2023).
