2020, Domaine de Villaine, RULLY, 1er Cru, 'Rabource' EN CONVERSION BIO

$112

Our Rully 1er Cru "Rabourcé" demonstrates on the nose a certain complexity, ranging from notes of ripe white fruits to fresh butter, lightly oaked thanks to a large part of the grapes being vinified in new foudres purchased in 2018. On the palate, after a little air, we find mineral notes and an aromatic amplitude synonymous with the beautiful maturity of the grapes and a finesse and suppleness that are reminiscent of apricots, candied fruits and candied pineapple. We also perceive bitter notes which come from the skin of the grapes. This bitterness makes one salivate and makes the finish almost tensile and fresh at the same time while offering rather incredible length. A wine to drink now or in two to five years. Pierre de Benoist.

Calmer, less forward nose but there is both clarity and a modest perfume too. Mouth-filling, the fruit balances an obvious mineral base. Clean and mineral, almost a hint 'strict' finishing - did I ever mention that I like strict? Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.
