Peter Maude Fine Wines
2021, Domaine de la Vougeraie, CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY, Village
A bright mid purple. Raspberry and strawberry mix together, softer than the Côte de Beaune wines, yet with very good depth. Quite a long finish, too. Promising, but the 2021 Chambolle has not yet grown into its own personality. *** 89-91 Jasper Morris MW.
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village includes two Premier Crus this year, Les Gruenchers and Les Baudes. It has a light but pretty nose that is rather floral in style, cohesive though never intense. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins and peppery (though there are no stems here) with a gentle grip on the finish. Nicely crafted with the materials offered. 87-90 Neal Martin, Vinous.
A more vertical nose – plenty of higher tones – the impression of a bit more aromatic structure. Wide, supple, more intense, than growing wider with finely mouth-watering, slightly sweet flavours, chalky finishing texture. This will be excellent! Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.
