Peter Maude Fine Wines
2023, Domaine de Bel-Air, BEAUJOLAIS, Villages 'Les Granits Bleus'
Grown on steep, southwest facing granite and sand slopes, the Beaujolais Villages is supple with a lightly tannic structure, making it a versatile wine to be enjoyed year-round. The robe is intense while on the nose red berry fruit; mainly black currant and raspberry, aromas are at the fore.
The 2023 Beaujolais-Villages Les Granits Bleus has a nicely composed bouquet, a mélange of red and black fruit with rose petal and a touch of sea spray. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive concentration, balanced with commensurate freshness and tension. Nicely detailed with a sorbet-fresh finish, this is delightful. 89 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024).
