2022, Domaine Lignier-Michelot, CHARMES-CHAMBERTIN, Grand Cru
The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, containing 100% whole bunches, has a well-defined bouquet that effortlessly disguises the stem addition. Struck flint and light graphite notes seep through the mainly black fruit, developing a subtle floral scent with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp flintiness on the entry and a silver bead of acidity. It is very proportioned and focused on the finish. This is another cuvée that is leaps and bounds superior to the 2021 and it should age with style in bottle. 94-96 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).
Another tiny cuvée is the 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, pure and unctuous wine redolent of smoky berries, plums, orange zest, potpourri and spices. Layered and seamless, it's suave and perfumed, discreetly marked by its whole bunch vinification. 92-94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2024).
