2022, Domaine Lignier-Michelot, MOREY-SAINT-DENIS, 'En la Rue de Vergy'

$120

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis En la Rue de Vergy includes 50% whole bunches this year. This cuvée lacked the precision I found in Lignier-Michelot's other wines, a bit of warmth detracting from its clarity. The palate is medium-bodied with black cherry and blueberry fruit. There's fine structure, though I seek a little more roundness and fluidity on the finish. It's just a tad abrupt. 88-90 Neal Martin, Vinous (2023).

From vines planted in the 1970s at the top of the slope above the Clos des Lambrays, Lignier's 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis En La Rue de Vergy offers up notes of cherries, red berries, liquorice and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, bright and mineral, it's a pure, refined wine whose ethereal style reflects its origins. 90-91 William Kelley, Wine Advocate (2024).
