2022, Domaine Pierre Guillemot, SAVIGNY-LÈS-BEAUNE, 'Le Dessus de Gollardes', Blanc

The white is an interesting wine planted from cuttings from Henri Gouge's Pinot Blanc, growing alongside Chardonnay just north of the village. Brilliant for blind-tastings as well as excellent drinking.

Both cépages were planted 1958, the chardonnay apparently from Montrachet cuttings, and the pinot blanc from Domaine Henri Gouges, using three rootstocks fortunately. With a pale colour such as this you don’t expect quite so much fruit weight on the palate. There is a superb thread of acidity through the middle, and a fruit which extends beautifully to the very long finish. Gorgeous wine every year, and it ages wonderfully well. Drink from 2026-2035.
