Often close in quality to the same owner's top Saint Emilion, Le Tertre Rôteboeuf.
This Côtes de Bourg is head and shoulders the best wine of the appellation and very much a wine for those "in the know". A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Mingling aromas of sweet cherries and cassis with notions of licorice, espresso roast and spices, the 2022 Roc de Cambes is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a broad-shouldered profile, framed by powdery tannins, and concluding with a chalky finish. This is always the most structured wine in the Mitjavile portfolio. 92-94 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.

The 2022 Roc de Cambes displays a very perfumed bouquet with black cherries and blueberry fruit, more floral than the Domaine des Cambes, iris and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and clove. Hints of iron toward the spicy finish. Very fine. 92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous.

The 2022 Roc de Cambes is deep garnet-purple in colour. It sashays out with fragrant notes of Chinese five spice, sandalwood, dark chocolate, and licorice, leading to a core of plum preserves and warm cassis. The full-bodied palate is concentrated, rich, and seductive, with velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with great length. 91-93+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown.

The 2022 Roc de Cambes is a wild, exotic wine that captures all the natural intensity of the year. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, licorice, lavender and hard candy all race out of the glass. The 2022 is pretty exuberant, so readers should expect a flamboyant wine that approaches the sort of richness that is often found in the flagship Tertre Rôteboeuf. 91-93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
