2023, Château Gloria, SAINT-JULIEN, Cru Bourgeois
$57.50 inc. GST
Last Year EP $68.00-
This château was created in the 1950s by the late Henri Martin who was also the regisseur of Château Latour. The quality here has improved massively in the last few years. Usually St Julien's best value. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc in 2023.
The 2023 Gloria is bright, punchy and super-expressive. Red-toned fruit, crushed flowers, white pepper and mocha are nicely dialed up. This super-classic Saint-Juliendelivers the goods. Best of all, it should be a great value. Drink 2030-2053.
91-93 Antonio Galloni.
An attractive effort, the 2023 Gloria offers up aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with subtle hints of violets and liquorice. It's medium to full-bodied, taut and lively, with good depth and persistence. This is the third and final vintage of organic conversion at Gloria.
90-92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
Blackberries and blueberries with stone and sandalwood undertones. It’s medium to full-bodied with integrated tannins that are polished and refined. Long finish. Solid and rather muscular.
93-94 James Suckling.
Love this inky depths of the plummy fruits and deep rich chcolate notes, great qualitywith depths and balance. Last year of organic conversion.
