2023, Domaine de la Vougeraie, BONNES-MARES, Grand Cru, Magnum (1500ml)

The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru includes 30% whole bunches. This offers one of the best aromatic profiles from Vougeraie: red berry fruit, briar, crushed stone and touches of pressed iris flower. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins that frame the mineral-rich black and red fruit. Very composed, with the new oak neatly assimilated, this is a great Bonnes-Mares that will give 20 years' drinking pleasure. Delicious. 93-95 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024).

Mid crimson. An immediate delicious nose, 50% whole bunch vinification in one of the less ripe appellations, at 12.5% natural. This wine shows that that can be enough. What grace and charm, on the palate, with lifted little red fruits right at the back. No feeling that it is on the light side.
