2023, Domaine de la Vougeraie, CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET, 1er Cru, 'Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle', Blanc, Magnum (1500ml)

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle 1er Cru Blanc is the third release from Vougeraie. There is a light flor-like scent on the nose that actually lends this more complexity as touches of orange rind develop with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a slightly creamy texture and fine acidity, quite generous with Clementine and pear toward the finish. This will be irresistible in its youth. 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024).

Pale lemon colour, a little bit of well-chosen oak on the nose, with a refined but intense white orchard fruit beneath. The skin of a clementine, suggests Sylvie. This starts well in the mouth then kicks on beautifully with a refined acidity. A high class Morgeot with excellent persistence. **** 92-94 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (2024).
