2023, Domaine de la Vougeraie, NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES, 1er Cru, 'Les Damodes'

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru contains 60% whole bunches this year. There is more mineralité on the nose compared to the Clos des Thorey, with pressed rose petals that infuse the lifted red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fine tension and ample poise. This has a seductive Pinoté—one of the best wines from Vougeraie. 92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024).

Attractive mid ruby. The bouquet indicates the typically lighter style of hillside wine, while on the palate the fruit builds in intensity towards the back, red and blackcurrants, with good length. *** 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (2024).
