Just one cuvée this year, as the lower part hardly produced and needs pulling out (161/49 rootstock issue). Picked 31st August. A light green tint and much more elegance on the nose than the robust Charmes, quite subtle in the level of nuance. Dances across the palate, picked at the perfect time, with a gracious long finish, just a hint of honeysuckle, and fine persistence once again. A lovely example. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Oct 2024. **** 93-96 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy.
The 2023 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru is a blend of Dessus and Dessous parcels due to degenerating vines from the 161-49 clone (one parcel was pulled out). This has a very poised bouquet with fine mineralité and light smoky scents, reminiscent of Comte-Lafon in some ways. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. It is not the most complex Genevrières, but it sports fine tension and salinity on the finish. 90-92 Neal Martin.
