2024 - "The Producer's Vintage"

Similar to the saying in Real Estate,
it’s all about producer, producer, producer,
when finding the gems of 2024.

2024 is not a "vintage of the century" – it is a rainy & mild vintage resulting in early bud-break, both frost and mildew pressure, which tested the skills and resources of the chateaux. Those with the good free-draining vineyards with both the ability and the drive to pick, sort and discard, have come out on top. 

2024 is a vintage to buy with discernment – giving you access to some beautiful wines at attractive prices that will not require years of cellaring to show their best.

As you may already be aware, we have been offering Bordeaux vintages on an ‘En Primeur’ basis since the magnificent 1982 vintage.  Our philosophy has always been to obtain the very best wines on offer from our extensive network of Bordeaux suppliers developed over the past 46 years.  

In a vintage such as 2024 this is more important than ever - so we will be keeping a sharp eye out for the right wines to buy. We will select, as always, only the very best quality and also wines that represent the best value that Bordeaux has to offer. 

Katharine Maude wrote recently whilst was in Bordeaux; "My overall impression of the 2024s was that most of the ones I tasted had wonderful aromas, elegance and a classical structure. The best of the whites and reds were showing well. Quite approachable and easy to read at this early stage. Not a left bank or right bank vintage. A producer vintage. The winemakers remained focused on bringing up the very best berries & wines that they could produce. Good fighting spirit overall amongst the producers."
