Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé
Chambolle-Musigny, Cotes-de-Nuits, Bourgogne, France
High-class wines of exceptional quality.
This famous domaine came to prominence in the 1940/50s but dates back to 1450 and kept under family ownership, even through the FrenchRevolution, when they were exiled in England. Today the 12.4-hectare domaine is owned by Georges Comte de Vogüés two granddaughters, Mariede Ladoucette and Claire de Causans.
The winemaking, viticulture and marketing are managed by the dynamic trio of Francois Millet, Eric Bourgogne and Jean- Luc Pepin. There are just seven crus produced including one white. Musigny represents 80% of the entire vineyard while the Les Amoureuses is of grand cru quality and is oneof Burgundy's most sought-after wines. The domaine themselves declassified the Musigny Blanc to Bourgogne Blanc when they replanted the vineyard (20 years ago) but at some time in the future it will revert back to Musigny Blanc when the domaine is satisfied with the vine age and grape quality.
The vineyards are farmed organically, relatively little new oak is used but bottling is a full 18 months after harvest. These highly desirable wines are by allocation only. Source: BBR.com
