Samuel Billaud is a fourth generation winemaker who started in the family domaine - Billaud-Simon in 1985 - until he decided to set up on his own in 2009. Samuel has been slowly increasing his holdings. He began utilising bought in grapes, then in August 2014 Domaine Billaud-Simon was sold to Faiveley - from the sale of which Samuel inherited one sixth of the family vineyard holdings - 4.2 hectares of vineyards in total. He also built himself a new state-of-the-art winery. So there is no doubt that these are wines to watch out for. As Neal Martin also said - “We should see him...at the top of Chablis producers alongside...Raveneau and Vincent Dauvissat.”
