Domaine Ponsot
Morey-Saint-Denis,
Côte-de-Nuits, Bourgogne, France
One of Burgundy’s great domaines
William Ponsot first purchased vineyard parcels in the Clos de la Roche and Clos des Monts Luisants in 1872. These early purchases became the foundation for Domaine Ponsot today.
Recognised as one of Burgundy’s great domaines the wines are noted both for their power and their ability to express a particular terroir. Domaine Ponsot’s wines are quite exceptional - and highly collectable.
No new oak is used. The wines are harvested late (Ponsot is regularly the last Domaine to harvest in the Côte de Nuits) and strict sorting occurs in both vineyard and winery so that only perfect fruit makes it to the press.
Today, the estate continues to be an entirely family-run business, its various entities being owned by Laurent, Rose-Marie, Catherine and Stéphanie Ponsot - although Laurent Ponsot has recently handed over the winemaking to Alexandre Abel, to pursue his own venture - Domaine Laurent Ponsot.
